Bobby Kasteels was born in 1953 in Varna. He graduated from a music high school and later from ballet pedagogy. He worked at the Varna and Plovdiv Operas, at the Musical Theatre in Sofia, and briefly at the Arabesque ballet studio. He made a great contribution to the Bulgarian variety stage as a soloist of the Golden Sands Revue-Ballet. Bobby Kasteels also worked for a long time as the executive director of an impresario agency in Brussels. He has choreographed numerous productions for Latin American groups. He also created his own ballet formation, which received first prize for choreography and costumes at a national competition for variety performers in Kazanlak in 1988. Later, he gave up the ballet profession and graduated from medicine in Belgium. He has been writing literary works since 2009. He participates in the Bulgarian Authors Around the World forum.
The poet is a laureate of the Melnik Poetry Evenings competition, and has won awards from other literary competitions – “Women and Wine, Wine and Women”, a readers’ award in the magazine “Club 50+”, an award in a competition organized on Facebook by the “Bukvite” publishing house, and others. “He has had solo recitals in Varna and Burgas. He sings and plays the guitar and piano. He is fond of martial arts, has received awards in tournaments and competitions. He speaks nine languages perfectly”.
