Tsonka Dureva was born in 1964 in Smolyan. In 1989 she graduated from Plovdiv University. She lives and works in her hometown, where she presents her work in solo and group exhibitions. The main theme of her work is the Rhodope Mountains in its diversity of subjects during the different seasons. She paints in the field of oil painting and watercolor. Her style can be defined as romantic realism, in which with a rich color palette she breathes life into mountain ridges, lakes and rivers, houses and girls in national costumes. The soft forms and color palette recreate a harmonious world that has passed through the aesthetic sensations of the artist.
